Maureen Denise McCormick is the younger daughter of Richard McCormick. She was born August 5, 1956, on the outskirts of Woodland Hills California. Her father taught at school, as did her mother, who was a homemaker. She has three older brothers: Michael Dennis and Kevin. McCormick is always a fan of singing, dancing and putting on puppet shows. When McCormick was six years old, she won an award in the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley pageant. Pat Domigan at Jack Wormser Agency called and asked if she'd be interested in entering the show business. McCormick had her first significant job when she was cast in the commercial for television that was broadcast in 1964 of Mattels new baby doll, Baby Pattaburp. The following year she starred as Chatty Cathy in a commercial which was later adapted for Wind It Up And It's Breaks at The La Jolla Playhouse. The Brady Bunch In 1969 McCormick was chosen out of a crowd of over 1200 children who auditioned to play the eldest of three towheaded daughters on the new TV show The Brady Bunch starring Florence Henderson and Robert Reed as newlyweds with an unintended family. The show lasted for five seasons. McCormick revealed her story in Heres the Story. Surviving Marcia Brady, and Finding My True Voice (published 2008) that McCormick almost lost her virginity to Barry Williams during the five-year period in the series. The actress was just 16 years old and the actor was aged 19 at the at the time. The incident would have happened as she describes. However, the timing for our relationship was not right.
