Maureen Denise McCormick, the only child of Richard McCormick, and Irene McCormick, was born in Woodland Hills California on 5 August 1956. Her father was an elementary school teacher, while her mother was mother at home. Michael Dennis, Kevin and Dennis are her three elder brothers. At a young age McCormick enjoyed singing and dance, and she would frequently present puppet shows to the neighborhood children. McCormick won the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley Contest at age 6 and was approached by Pat Domigan, a talent agent from the Jack Wormser Agency. He was interested in her desire to join the business of show production. McCormick's first big job was in 1964, when she appeared in a TV commercial for Mattels new Baby Pattaburp doll. The following year she appeared in another commercial for the companys Chatty Cathy doll and was shortly cast in the musical The Wind It up until It is Broken on stage at La Jolla Playhouse. The Brady Bunch In 1969 McCormick was picked from among 1500 children who had auditioned to be the youngest of three daughters towheaded in the upcoming TV comedy The Brady Bunch starring Florence Henderson and Robert Reed as newlyweds with the family of a blended couple. The show ran for five years. McCormick's autobiography Heres the Story, Surviving Marcia Brady: Finding My True Voice was released in 2008. The book revealed that McCormick was close to losing her virginity on stage of the show during the fifth season when it was played by Barry Williams. The time was when she was 16, and he was 19. It could have been as she describes. However, the timing for our marriage was not the right one.
